Bertazzoni Freezers POWER FAILURE!! Error: Power outage recorded

What Does Power Failure!! Mean? The Power Failure!! alarm on a Bertazzoni freezer column — including the Professional Series and Master Series built-in freezer columns — fires when the unit detects that mains power was interrupted long enough for the interior temperature to rise. On restoration, the control board displays the highest temperature recorded during […]

Quick Assessment

Answer to continue safely

Is it safe to keep using?

Maybe. The unit itself is safe to operate once power is restored. The critical question is food safety — check the peak temperature displayed and evaluate whether stored items should be discarded or can be safely refrozen.

Can I reset the code?

Yes. Press the Alarm button once to silence the buzzer and clear the power-failure notification. The display returns to normal temperature readout.

When to stop immediately?

Stop if you notice: Freezer fails to resume cooling within 30 minutes of power restoration, Circuit breaker trips again immediately after reset, indicating a wiring or appliance fault.

Symptoms You May Notice

Frozen food feels soft or partially thawed when power returns

After a power event, items in the freezer — particularly ice cream, fish, and meat — may feel noticeably softer than normal, indicating the interior rose above -4 °F (-20 °C) for a sustained period during the outage.

Audible alarm activates as soon as power is restored

The control board triggers the buzzer on power restoration to alert you immediately. Press the Alarm button once to silence it and read the peak temperature recorded during the outage.

Display shows peak warm temperature rather than current set point

Instead of the normal set-point readout, the panel displays the highest temperature reached inside the freezer while de-energised, giving you the data to judge food safety before opening the door.

Possible Causes

1

Utility grid power outage

A neighbourhood or regional outage interrupted supply long enough for the freezer interior to warm. The column resumes automatic operation once power is restored.

DIY Possible
2

Tripped dedicated circuit breaker

The breaker on the freezer column's dedicated circuit may have tripped due to a surge. Locating and resetting the breaker restores power without any further intervention.

3

Power cord disconnected at the wall

On non-built-in installations the power cord may have been partially pulled from the socket, interrupting supply. Check the connection at the outlet.

Safe Checks You Can Do

These checks are safe for homeowners. No disassembly required. Do not remove panels or access internal components.
  1. 1

Check the circuit breaker and restore power

Go to your electrical panel and check the breaker for the freezer column. If tripped, switch it fully off then back on firmly. Confirm the column display powers back on.

Bertazzoni freezer columns require a dedicated 20-amp circuit — ensure no other large appliances share the same breaker.

  2. 2

Record the peak temperature and assess food safety

Press the Alarm button to silence the buzzer and read the peak temperature on the display. If the freezer temperature exceeded 20 °F (-7 °C) for more than 2 hours, assess food quality before refreezing. Photograph the display before pressing Alarm.

Meat and fish with ice crystals still present can generally be safely refrozen, though quality may be slightly reduced.

  3. 3

Allow the unit to recover with the door closed

Keep the door closed for at least 30 minutes after power is restored and verify the temperature is trending back toward the set point. Normal recovery from a brief outage takes 15–30 minutes.

If temperature does not recover within 30 minutes, treat the situation as a "Freezer too warm" fault and move frozen food to a secondary freezer.

When to Call a Professional

Contact a qualified technician if:

  • Breaker trips repeatedly even with no other loads on the circuit — a wiring or component fault requires diagnosis
  • Column powers on but temperature does not recover after 30 minutes — compressor or board fault suspected
