Bertazzoni Microwave DOOR-INTERLOCK Error: Door interlock fault
What Is a Door Interlock Fault on a Bertazzoni Microwave? Bertazzoni microwaves use a multi-switch interlock system to guarantee the oven cannot generate microwave energy unless the door is fully closed and latched. A DOOR-INTERLOCK condition means one of these switches has failed, the latch mechanism is broken, or the safety monitor fuse has blown. […]
Quick Assessment
Answer to continue safely
Is it safe to keep using?
No. A failed door interlock is a serious radiation safety hazard. Do not use the microwave under any circumstances until a qualified technician has repaired the interlock system and performed a microwave leakage test.
Can I reset the code?
No. Interlock switch failure requires physical component replacement. Replacing the monitor fuse alone is insufficient — the monitor switch assembly must also be replaced per Bertazzoni service protocol.
When to stop immediately?
Stop if you notice: Oven appears to run with the door open or partially open, Monitor fuse blows again immediately after replacement.
Symptoms You May Notice
Microwave will not start at all even though the door is fully closed and the display is active
The primary interlock switch circuit is incomplete, preventing the cook relay from engaging. The display may appear normal but no cook cycle can be initiated regardless of the program entered.
Oven is completely dead — no display, no light — immediately after being plugged in
A failed primary switch that does not open when the door is opened causes the monitor switch to deliberately blow the monitor fuse, cutting all power to the unit as a fail-safe against microwave leakage.
Possible Causes
Failed primary interlock switch
If the primary switch contacts fail to open when the door is opened, the monitor switch closes and deliberately blows the monitor fuse. The MO30STANE service manual mandates replacing both the blown fuse and the monitor switch assembly together using part FFS-BA016/KIT.
Requires ProfessionalBroken door latch hooks or misaligned door
Bent or broken plastic latch hooks prevent the interlock switches from being fully engaged when the door is closed, so the primary interlock relay cannot complete its circuit.
Requires ProfessionalSafe Checks You Can Do
-
1
Inspect door closure and latch hooks
With the oven unplugged, examine the door latch hooks and the latch cavity on the oven frame. Both upper and lower hooks should click into place firmly with no visible cracking or deformation.
Do not attempt to defeat or bypass the interlock system. It is an FDA-regulated safety mechanism. If the door opens and the oven appears to continue running, unplug it immediately.
When to Call a Professional
Contact a qualified technician if:
- Primary switch contacts fail to open when the door is opened, confirmed with a meter
- Monitor fuse is blown — mandates replacing monitor switch assembly FFS-BA016/KIT
- Microwave leakage measurement exceeds 4 mW/cm² at 5 cm from the door seal
