Bertazzoni Coffee Machines FLOW METER ERROR Error: No water flow detected
What Does “Flow Meter Error” Mean on a Bertazzoni CM24 Coffee Machine? The Bertazzoni CM24 automatic coffee system — a premium built-in machine available in the CM24T-1 (tank) and CM24P-1 (plumbed) configurations — uses a turbine-style flow meter to measure exactly how much water passes through the brewing circuit per cycle. When the turbine stops […]
Quick Assessment
Answer to continue safely
Is it safe to keep using?
No. The machine will not operate while Flow Meter Error is active. Resolve the water supply issue and power-cycle the machine before attempting to make drinks.
Can I reset the code?
Yes. Refilling the water tank (or reconnecting the plumbed supply) and power-cycling the machine clears the error if the flow meter itself is undamaged.
When to stop immediately?
Stop if you notice: Error persists after confirming the water tank is full and correctly seated, No water dispenses even after multiple reset attempts.
Symptoms You May Notice
All drink and water buttons stop responding and the pump runs but nothing comes from the dispenser nozzle
The CM24 flow meter detects that water is not moving through the brewing circuit. The machine immediately halts all drink dispensing to prevent the pump from running dry, which could damage the pump seals.
Display reads "Flow Meter Error" and the machine cannot be used until the fault is resolved
Unlike some maintenance reminders, Flow Meter Error is a hard lockout. No drinks, no hot water, and no steam functions are available until the water supply issue is corrected and the error is cleared.
Possible Causes
Water tank empty or supply line disconnected
The CM24T-1 uses an internal water tank; if the tank is dry the flow meter turbine stops moving. The CM24P-1 connects to household plumbing; a closed shut-off valve or disconnected supply line produces the same no-flow alarm.
DIY PossibleFlow meter turbine clogged with limescale
The turbine-style flow meter can clog with calcium carbonate deposits from hard water, stopping the turbine even when water pressure is present and generating a false no-flow fault.
Requires ProfessionalSafe Checks You Can Do

Check the water tank or supply line
For CM24T-1: pull the machine out and confirm the water tank is full with filtered water (hardness 4 gpg or less). For CM24P-1: confirm the household shut-off valve is fully open and the supply line is connected.
Inspect the CM24T-1 water tank O-ring (orange, part K) during tank removal — a cracked O-ring can allow the tank to drain slowly between uses.
When to Call a Professional
Contact a qualified technician if:
- Flow meter turbine does not spin when water pressure is confirmed at the inlet
- Flow meter wiring harness is disconnected or shows corrosion
- Inlet solenoid valve is not opening when commanded by the control board
