Bertazzoni Ovens F1 Error: Oven control board fault
What Does F1 Mean? F1 on a Bertazzoni wall oven signals a fault in the Electronic Oven Control (EOC) system — either the RTD temperature sensor probe has failed and is feeding the control board an invalid signal, or the EOC board itself has developed an internal processor or ADC fault. The oven sounds a […]
Quick Assessment
Answer to continue safely
Is it safe to keep using?
No. An F1 fault indicates loss of temperature control. Shut off the wall oven immediately and discontinue use until the cause is identified and repaired by a qualified technician.
Can I reset the code?
Yes. A 2-minute circuit breaker power-cycle clears the F1 fault flag. If the code returns on the next heating attempt, the probe or control board requires professional replacement.
When to stop immediately?
Stop if you notice: F1 returns within minutes of every power-cycle reset, Oven temperature overshoots significantly above the set point.
Symptoms You May Notice
Oven functions are disabled or run erratically with uncontrolled temperature
The oven either refuses to heat or produces wildly inconsistent temperatures, because the Electronic Oven Control board cannot execute a normal heating cycle without a valid sensor input.
Continuous beeping alarm sounds alongside the F1 display
The control board sounds an audible alarm continuously while F1 is shown, intended to alert the owner to a fault condition that requires immediate attention.
F1 persists after power cycling or reappears within minutes
A persistent or rapidly recurring F1 after a reset confirms the fault is hardware-based — either the probe or the control board itself has failed — rather than a transient software condition.
Possible Causes
RTD temperature sensor probe failed open or shorted
The oven cavity temperature sensor is feeding the Electronic Oven Control board an invalid signal — either open-circuit or shorted — causing the board to flag F1 as the sensor fault code.
Requires ProfessionalElectronic Oven Control board internal ADC or processor failure
The control board's analog-to-digital converter or main processor has developed an internal fault, causing the board to self-report F1 even when the sensor probe is functioning correctly.
Requires ProfessionalSafe Checks You Can Do
-
1
Power-cycle the wall oven
Switch the dedicated circuit breaker off for 2 full minutes to fully discharge the control board, then restore power and observe whether F1 returns on the first heating attempt. If the oven operates normally for 15+ minutes without F1 recurring, the fault was a transient software state.
If F1 returns within minutes of any heating attempt after reset, the probe or control board has a hardware fault — do not continue using the oven.

Note model and serial number for service
Locate the model and serial number label on the oven door frame or inside the broiler drawer and record both numbers. Bertazzoni service will need these to source the correct RTD probe or EOC board replacement part.
Photograph the label with your phone before calling service — the characters can be difficult to read in the field.
When to Call a Professional
Contact a qualified technician if:
- F1 returns within minutes of a power-cycle reset on every attempt
- Probe resistance measured by a technician is outside the 1080–1100 ohm specification
- F1 persists after a confirmed-good RTD probe is installed, indicating a board fault
