Error Codes

Meanings, severity levels, safe checks you can perform, and when to call a technician.

Enter the code shown on your cooktops display

Is it safe to keep using it?

Depends on code severity. Low/Medium codes often allow continued use, High severity requires immediate stop.

Can error codes be reset?

Some codes clear after power cycle. Persistent codes indicate underlying issues needing repair.

When should I stop using it?

Stop immediately for water leak codes, burning smell, or any High severity error.

Low Medium High
Code Meaning Severity Common Symptom
E Electronic hardware fault High The control board has detected a hardware fault on the affected zone and disabled it as a protective measure. Other zones may continue to work if their electronics are unaffected. View E3E / E4E Supply voltage out of range High The control board continuously monitors line voltage. When voltage drifts outside the safe window — even briefly — the firmware shuts down switching operations to protect the IGBT modules from operating at incorrect voltages. View E5 Zone temperature sensor fault High A specific induction zone on the cooktop refuses to start or cuts out immediately after activation, while adjacent zones continue to operate normally. View E6 Internal communication error High All active cooking zones cut power simultaneously and the cooktop becomes unresponsive — unlike a single-zone fault, every zone is affected. View E7 Board ambient sensor fault High Zones that were working normally cut out and refuse to restart, with E7 appearing on the display — there is no obvious external cause such as an incompatible pan. View ER03 Moisture on touch controls Medium Spilled liquid, steam condensate, or residual cleaning solution resting on the capacitive touch strip confuses the sensor logic and triggers the moisture-protection lockout, preventing any zone from being activated. View F3E Coil temp sensor failure High Unlike a simple overtemperature shutdown that clears after the glass cools, F3E is a sensor hardware fault. The zone remains locked out regardless of how long the cooktop is left off. View FAULT Cooling fan failure High Without confirmed airflow over the IGBT modules, the firmware locks out every zone to prevent thermal destruction of the power electronics. No zone can be activated while FAULT is displayed. View FFD FLAME FAILURE Flame failure device tripped High The Bertazzoni Star burner's Flame Failure Device keeps the gas valve open only while the thermocouple generates sufficient millivoltage from the flame heat. Releasing the knob before the thermocouple is adequately heated drops the valve closed. View H Residual heat warning Low Although induction heats the pan rather than the glass directly, the hot cookware conducts heat into the Vetroceramic surface. The H indicator remains on until the glass drops below approximately 60 °C, which can take 30–60 minutes after high-heat cooking. View X Pan not detected on zone Low The coil completes a brief detection sweep and, finding no magnetic load, powers down the zone as a normal safety response. The X symbol appears on the zone display and remains until compatible cookware is placed. View
