Bertazzoni Refrigerators TRIACTION OPEN Error: TriAction drawer left open
What Does TriAction OPEN Mean? The TriAction OPEN alarm is specific to Bertazzoni refrigerator columns equipped with the convertible TriAction bottom drawer — a compartment that can be configured as a freezer, a second refrigerator zone, or a Fresco crisper. The alarm fires when the drawer has been ajar for more than a couple of […]
Quick Assessment
Answer to continue safely
Is it safe to keep using?
Maybe. Once the drawer is fully closed the alarm clears and the unit is safe to use. If the drawer cannot be fully closed due to a mechanical fault, avoid using the TriAction compartment in freezer mode until the glide is repaired.
Can I reset the code?
Yes. Closing the drawer fully clears the alarm automatically. No manual reset is required.
When to stop immediately?
Stop if you notice: Drawer closes fully but alarm immediately reactivates, suggesting a faulty sensor, Drawer glide rail is visibly bent or broken and the drawer face cannot align flush with the cabinet.
Symptoms You May Notice
Bottom drawer feels noticeably warmer or develops condensation at the front gap
With the drawer slightly open, warm room air enters the TriAction compartment and raises its temperature. You may feel warm air escaping at the front when passing the unit or notice condensation forming along the drawer rim.
Audible alarm activates after the drawer has been ajar for a few minutes
The door-ajar sensor on the TriAction drawer triggers the buzzer after approximately 2–3 minutes. The alarm continues until the drawer is fully closed and latched.
Ice maker production stops if drawer is in freezer mode
When the TriAction compartment is configured as a freezer, an open drawer disables the ice maker as a protective measure. Ice production resumes automatically once the drawer is properly closed.
Possible Causes
Drawer not pushed to full close
The TriAction drawer uses a soft-close mechanism that requires a firm push past the initial resistance point. Stopping just short of full close leaves a small gap that the sensor registers as open.
DIY PossibleItems stacked above the drawer rim
Containers or bags placed too high in the drawer interfere with the upper guide rail or the door gasket on the drawer face, preventing full retraction into the cabinet.
DIY PossibleDamaged soft-close or drawer glide mechanism
If the soft-close damper or the drawer slide track is bent or broken, the drawer will not travel the last centimetre into the closed position and will trigger the alarm repeatedly.
Requires ProfessionalSafe Checks You Can Do
-
1
Push the drawer firmly to the full-close position
Grip the drawer handle and push deliberately until you hear or feel the soft-close mechanism engage and the drawer face sits flush with the cabinet. Bertazzoni soft-close drawers require more force than typical slide-out drawers.
If the drawer rebounds slightly after release, it has not cleared the soft-close engagement point — push harder and hold for one second.
-
2
Check the contents height and rearrange if needed
Open the drawer and verify that no item extends above the drawer rim or contacts the upper guide rail. Rearrange taller items toward the centre and shorter items near the front edge.
The TriAction drawer in freezer mode has a maximum fill height marked on the interior side wall — stay below this line.
When to Call a Professional
Contact a qualified technician if:
- Alarm returns within seconds of a confirmed full-close — the door-ajar sensor or its wiring may have failed
- Soft-close mechanism is broken and the drawer rattles or sits proud of the cabinet face
