Bertazzoni Refrigerators POWER FAILURE!! Error: Power outage recorded
What Does Power Failure!! Mean? The Power Failure!! alarm appears on Bertazzoni refrigerator columns — including the Professional Series and Master Series built-in columns — when the unit detects that mains power was interrupted long enough for the interior temperature to rise. On restoration, the control board displays the highest temperature recorded in each compartment […]
Quick Assessment
Answer to continue safely
Is it safe to keep using?
Maybe. The unit itself is safe to operate; the concern is food safety. Check the peak temperature recorded and follow USDA guidelines for perishables that may have exceeded 40 °F for more than 2 hours.
Can I reset the code?
Yes. Press the Alarm button once to silence the buzzer and clear the power-failure notification. The display will return to its normal temperature readout.
When to stop immediately?
Stop if you notice: Unit fails to resume cooling after 30 minutes and interior temperature continues to rise, Any burning smell, visible sparks, or scorch marks near the power cord or outlet.
Symptoms You May Notice
Food compartment feels warmer than usual on first check
When you open the refrigerator after a power event, the interior air and stored food feel noticeably warmer than the normal 37–38 °F range. Dairy and deli items may feel closer to room temperature.
Audible alarm sounds immediately after power returns
The control board activates the buzzer as soon as mains power is restored to alert you that a thermal event occurred while the unit was de-energised. Press the Alarm button once to silence it.
Display shows a peak warm temperature reading
Rather than the current set-point, the panel displays the highest temperature logged inside each compartment during the outage, giving you a record to judge whether perishables are still safe.
Possible Causes
Utility grid power outage
A neighbourhood or regional outage cut mains power for long enough for compartment temperatures to rise. The unit resumes normal operation automatically once power is restored.
DIY PossibleTripped dedicated circuit breaker
The 20-amp circuit breaker assigned to the refrigerator column may have tripped due to a surge or overload on the same circuit. Locating and resetting the breaker restores power.
DIY PossibleLoose or disconnected power cord
On non-built-in installations the power cord may have worked loose from the wall socket, interrupting supply without a grid event. Inspect the connection at the outlet and the back of the unit.
DIY PossibleSafe Checks You Can Do
-
1
Check the circuit breaker panel
Go to your electrical panel and look for the breaker labelled for the kitchen refrigerator column. If it is in the tripped or middle position, switch it fully off and then back on firmly.
Bertazzoni built-in columns require a dedicated 20-amp circuit — confirm no other appliances share that breaker.
-
2
Silence the alarm and note the peak temperature
Press the Alarm button on the control panel to silence the buzzer. Record the peak temperature displayed. If the refrigerator zone reached above 40 °F (4 °C) for more than 2 hours, discard high-risk perishables per USDA guidance.
The display returns to normal set-point readout once you press Alarm — take a photo of the peak reading first.
-
3
Allow the unit to recover and monitor temperature
Keep the door closed as much as possible for the next 30 minutes and watch the displayed temperature drop back toward the set point. Normal recovery takes 15–30 minutes if the door stays shut.
If the temperature does not drop within 30 minutes, the unit may have a separate cooling fault — see the "Fridge too warm" alarm.
When to Call a Professional
Contact a qualified technician if:
- Breaker trips repeatedly even with no other loads on the circuit — indicates a wiring or component fault
- Unit powers on but does not cool after an extended outage, suggesting a compressor or control-board fault
